Edward (Ed) Stern

Ed (he/him/his) is a cis male who is a board-certified Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. He provides virtual visits throughout DC, MD and VA. He lives an open queer life as a divorced pansexual man. He's a sex-positive, open-minded healthcare worker who acknowledges his privilege and has lived his share of hardship.

Ed provides care to anyone who is clinically safe for the practice model, no matter where they are in their life journey. He offers psychiatric medication management and mental health wellness through a whole-body approach to care. He considers all of you and your life, not just a disease process. Another way to look at it is that he looks at the symptoms that impact your life, and then you both agree on how best to treat your needs.

His psychiatry experience includes inpatient and outpatient care, PHP (partial hospitalization program), and IOP (intensive outpatient program), as well as crisis management. He now is seeing people like you via video-based outpatient telemedicine.

Ed is a volunteer member of the Board of Directors for Outcare Health, a national nonprofit with a mission to train and support more affirming healthcare professionals in the US. He has spoken at many conferences, is a recurring guest on several podcasts, and has been on TV and in print. He was also the co-host of a public radio program in DC on LGBTQ+ equality, diversity, and adversity. Ed created and hosts "PsychNP Cast," a podcast designed to educate his peers on mental health.
